Laura Klotz receives DZL Poster Award in the Disease Area Lung Cancer

Dr. med. Laura Valentina Klotz, prospective specialist physician in thoracic surgery and visiting scientist at the Institute of Lung Biology and Disease (ILBD) and the Comprehensive Pneumology Center (CPC) in the Lab "Molecular Lung Carcinogenesis" of Dr. med. Georgios Stathopoulos, received the best poster prize at the seventh annual meeting of the DZL (German Center for Lung Research) in the disease area “Lung Cancer”. The title of her winning poster is "Comprehensive clinical profiling of the Gauting locoregional lung adenocarcinoma donors".

Within the scope of the work, 50 different parameters of patients with loco-regional lung adenocarcinoma were examined, which were operated on at the lung clinic Gauting, also part of the DZL. Lung adenocarcinoma, a special form of lung cancer, has been increasingly present in recent years in younger patients, women, and especially non-smokers, so that accurate characterization of this disease is of great importance to establish new therapeutic options. The 7th DZL Annual Meeting took place from 8 to 9 February in Bad Nauheim. Here, 480 scientists, physicians and young researchers exchanged views on their projects in the field of lung research. The DZL is an association of leading university and non-university institutions dedicated to the research of respiratory diseases. The aim of the DZL is to jointly develop new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of widespread lung diseases in a translational research approach.
